auditions? [Oct. 28th, 2006|12:54 am]
Professional Dancers Network

Hi, I'm a 20 year old, female modern dancer who goes to Columbia College Chicago. I'm a good dancer, but I'm having trouble finding auditions. Does anyone know of any good websites that list dance auditions by city? I'm very interested in performance art as well, but all I can seem to find is stuff for actors. Please help.

I noticed a few today:

Contemporary/Modern Dancers Needed!
posted 10/22/2006

Hi! I'm choreographing a short piece for Dance Slam (a part of Dance Chicago) and I need one to two dancers (male or female). I'm looking for dancers with experience in modern or contemporary.
The performance is Tuesday, November 21st. We will be rehearsing once or twice a week, depending on how it goes, starting this week until the performance. Our schedule for rehearsels will be weekdays after 7 pm and some weekends. You must be available to rehearse the weekend before the performance. All rehearsels are mandatory.
Contact me and let me know a little about yourself, your dance experience, etc and hopefully we can set something up! Thanks! deborah.surma@gmail.com or 586-944-4930

Need female African American Actress and 3 female African American gospel singers for show
posted 10/17/2006

I have play, "Waking Kya," the story of an African refugee woman with intermittent 'visits' from the African dancers. I am looking for one African American actress, three dancers (prefer African/women of color dancers) for this show, AND African musicians to play their original works. The show would be performed in spring of 2007 . There is possible payment if funding is secured, but all proceeds from ticket sales go to a program in a refugee camp that helps war-affected women in Darfur--so, your soul has got to be into this (the money gets there through The Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children, a well established non profit based in New York. More details if you get involved). If interested email: edit@sistersgeographic.org Possible/probable travel.
Thanks so much and have a great day!

I noticed another one on dance.net:

And there were several more that I didn't visit or sift through. Usually it's just a matter of searching for 'chicago', 'dance' or any other restrictions you need.

Hope this helps.
